No Wish for Windows
I have always, always, appreciated my WordPress blog, just like the many thousands of other WordPress users.
But I have extra cause to be thankful for it this weekend, as I have spent a few hours first searching for, and then trying to install, blogging software on a Windows Server. To describe those past few hours as a tedious chore would be a understatement. But it had to be done, and in the end, I just needed to know I could do it; I am sure many people understand that feeling.
So now I have a Windows Server hosted website with some example blog installations on it – none of them quite fit the bill, by the way. Most of all, I have a renewed enthusiasm and gratitude for my own little blog. Even a self-confessed optimist with a positive outlook like me knows there is little point in making any wishes for Windows IIS to wake up and get with the program.
If anyone out there is struggling to get what they want on their website – whether that is a blog or any other application – I wish you well. And if it is a world-class blog you’re after, I have an invite for WordPress.com sitting here doing nothing, in case you decide to see sense!
